"Off the drug scene!" is a documentary film by the well-known Swiss director Rolf Lyssy. The film's
purpose is to provide information and clarification about opiate addiction and particularly about heroin-assisted treatment.
Heroin-assisted treatment was pioneered in Switzerland and has attracted a great deal of interest in countries throughout the world. The film eables patients and their relatives to give an impressive insight into their lives. In addition, doctors and staff of ARUD, Zurich's outpatient clinic Zokl2, as well as external specialists give their views (including Professor Thomas Zeltner, Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health).
To enable drug addicts to bring their dependence under control and to take drugs without being steeped in crime, without damage to their health, without financial ruin and without becoming marginalized in society - these are important and rewarding objectives of heroin assisted treatment.
The DVD is in Swiss-German, with subtitles in: English, French, German, and Spanish. The length of the DVD is 53 minutes, in a 16:9 format, code free.

Rolf Lyssy, born 1936 in Zurich, grew up in Zurich and Herrliberg; trained to be a photographer. From 1956 to 1963, he worked as a camera assistant on documentary and feature films.

ARUD Zurich is an association committed to reducing the social, psychological and somatic risks in connection with drug-taking. In its outpatient clinics, ARUD Zurich provides, among other things, a medically-controlled distribution of drugs as well as the medical assistance that drug addicts require in order to survive.
ARUD runs three outpatient clinics offering methadone, buprenorphine and heroin-assisted treatment (Zokl1 and Zokl2 in Zurich, DBB in Horgen) as well as GAIN, a center specializing in giving advice and treatment in cases where problems arise from the se of cannabis, cocaine and party drugs.
