Dr. Blix graduated from the medical school of the Uppsala University in
1977. He met his first methadone assisted rehabilitation patient in 1978
at the Psychiatric Research Centre during his internship. In 1979 he received
his MD license and enrolled at the PRC Uppsala (under Prof. Lars M. Gunne).
In 1985, he was appointed to open a methadone clinic in Stockholm. In 1987 he returned to Uppsala for completion of his doctoral dissertation and graduation. Dr. Blix was appointed medical director of the Methadone Assisted Rehabilitation (MAR) Programme in Uppsala in 1988. He later opened a MAR programme in Malmñ (southern Sweden, 1991). Three years later he became leader of the Methadone Project in Oslo. In 1998, Dr. Blix was named Medical Director of the Methadone Clinic at the Bergen Clinics Foundation. In 2000 after more than 20 years of clinical work with MAR, Dr. Blix received the EUROPAD Award, Arezzo, Italy.
His other interests include: Sailing, music (plays violin, viola and piano and a considerable amount of CD's...) environmentalism, nature.
