Advocate
for Patient RightsPeter Vanderkloot is an advocate for the rights of the opioid dependent. In the course of eight years of street addiction he was exposed to a broad spectrum of the drug abuse and treatment worlds - experience which he supplemented with continual study of the literature.
His experiences on the street and in treatment motivated Peter to devote himself to promoting humane and effective approaches to drug use and dependency. In particular he has worked to better public understanding of methadone maintenance and to expand availability of methadone through deregulation.
